  1. Designating of a verb to express an idea of making, calling or to think something to be complementary to the direct object.
  2. A word which pertains to or designates a verb which takes, in addition to an object, a characterizing complement.
  3. Examples:
    • "Make the dress short."
    • "They elected him treasurer."
    • "He called Susan an enemy."
